Nagaland State Scouts & Guides holds basic course

Kohima, June 29 (MExN): The Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides is conducting a basic training course for Cub Masters and Flock Leaders from June 24 to 30 at the State Headquarters in Kohima, marking a major milestone for the association as such a programme is being held after many decades. The course, which focuses on cubbing and flocking for boys and girls aged 5 to 10, is a foundational initiative in the scouting and guiding movement. Due to a lack of state-based trainers in these sections, the Nagaland State Association, in consultation with the National Headquarters and the National Training Centre, has invited experienced trainers from other states to lead the programme.

Girija G.K., Leader Trainer (Bulbul), from Kerala is heading the flock section, while Naushad Ali, Leader Trainer (Cub), from Madhya Pradesh and Bhagirath Kalita, HWB (Cub) from Assam are conducting the cub training.

Participants in the flock section include representatives from five districts: Chümoukedima (7), Dimapur (6), Kohima (13), Peren (3), Phek (1), and the State Headquarters (2), bringing the total to 30. In the cub section, 27 participants have joined from Chümoukedima (3), Dimapur (7), Kohima (10), Peren (2), and Phek (1), including seven women undergoing training as Lady Cub Masters, who will be entrusted with mentoring boys in the Cub section.

“This training is an important milestone for the State Association. It is expected to boost the census growth of the State, particularly in the Cub and Bulbul sections,” the organisers said. “We will be encouraged to see the opening of new units by these trained unit leaders. They will be the torchbearers, mentoring our young boys and girls to contribute to society in small but significant ways.”
