Kohima, March 18 (MExN): The Nagaland State Social Audit Agency (NSSAA) Social Audit Unit (SAU) Nagaland launched its first batch five-day SHG-VRP training programme on social audit for 30 numbers of participants from Self Help Groups under NSRLM, Nagaland for Kohima district at the SIRD Conference Hall on March 18.
“This initiative aims to create a community cadre of Village Resource Persons (VRPs) from amongst members of SHGs who will be engaged in social audit process at village level,” stated a press release.
In his introductory speech, Imtitoshi I Jamir, Director of NSSAA, SAU Nagaland informed that the targeted SHGs will be trained covering schemes of MGNREGS, PMAY-G and 15th FC under Rural Development Department and NSAP under Social Welfare Department.
Nagaland NSRLM Mission Director, Imtimenla who also attended the launching programme said that the training programme is a good platform which will enable the SHGs to get involved in bringing about positive changes by upholding the principles of transparency and accountability in programme implementations of different schemes.
The five-day training will be comprised of theory and well as practicum in order to thoroughly equip the participants for the conduct of social audits. The NSSAA, SAU Nagaland is targeted to train 510 numbers of participants from SHGs covering all the districts of Nagaland on a phase wise manner.
Resource persons from NSSAA, SAU Nagaland, SIRD and PMAY-G Cell, RD are being assigned with the relevant topics for the first batch training of SHGs.
