MOKOKCHUNG, AUGUST 25 (MExN): A premier angling fest of Mokokchung, the annual Süngkotenem Angling Festival 2018 that began on August 20 last culminated on August 25. Aridong of Mopungchuket village emerged the winner making the ‘Season's Biggest Catch’ on the final day today.
Earlier on the first day, Nungshimar from Mokokchung made the biggest catch weighing 0.550 kgs. On August 23, Opangkokba from Mopungchuket caught a carp weighing 1.970 kgs and it looked like he was on his way to win the Season's Biggest Catch Award.
He was however displaced by Sentinok, also from Mopungchuket, whose catch weighed 2.995 kgs on the final day. The joy for Sentinok was short-lived as a few minutes later Aridong caught a bighead carp weighing 3.655 kgs.
The annual Süngkotenem Angling Festival is organized by the Mopungchuket Community Tourism Society. It witnesses angling enthusiasts from all over Mokokchung converging at the scenic Süngkotenem Lake to compete.
