Kohima, September 7 (MExN): 12 Taekwondo players from Nagaland Taekwondo Association will be representing the state at the 39th Senior National (Kyorugi) and 12th Senior National (Poomsae) Taekwondo Championship scheduled to be held in Guwahati from September 9 onwards.

After a month long of intensive coaching camp at IG Stadium Kohima, the team left Nagaland for Assam on Thursday to participate in the national championship.

The team Nagaland will be represented by 8 men and four female players including four coaches for the championship. This senior national Taekwondo championship will be the qualifying round for national games. The top eight winning states in this championship will qualify for the forthcoming National Games scheduled to be held in Goa.

The three day long tournament will be hosted by All Assam Taekwondo Association at the Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor stadium at the Sarusajai sports complex.

The team is led by coaches Visabiu Peseyie and Seyievilie Nakhro, while Santsuthung Ngullie and Alem Aier are team managers. 
The state team participating in Kyorugi division include Keyinchigongbe Hega (54kg), S Bovito Chophy (58kg), Heutingyi (63kg), Vilabizo Nagi (68kg), B Mongkai Phom (74kg), Dikshant (80kg), Sudhir (87kg), Menuosetuo Yiese (87kg) for men’s category. 

The women’s team includes Visazono (46kg), Dziesengunuo Solo (53kg), Dzuvichunuo Rutsa (57kg) Antimonyu Change (62kg). 
Around 1,000 players from different parts of the country will take part in the championship to qualify for the national games. 
The national event will be held from September 9 to 11 at Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor stadium.
