Nagaland Taekwondo wins 3 medals at sub-junior nationals

Medal winners of the 4th Sub-Junior National Taekwondo Championship with coaches and Manager at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Cuttack, Odisha on August 30.

KOHIMA, AUGUST 30 (MExN): The Nagaland Taekwondo Association (NTA) put up a commendable performance at the 4th Sub-Junior National Taekwondo Championship held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Cuttack, Odisha, from August 28 to 30.

The team, led by coaches Visabiu Peseyie and Santsuthung Ngullie with T Alem Aier as team manager, competed in six weight categories in the Sub-Junior Boys Division and returned with two gold medals and one silver.

Shiusuthong clinched the gold in the 35 kg category, defeating opponents from Maharashtra, Haryana, Telangana and Bihar in the final. In the 29 kg category, Sudeh Lamliu secured another gold, overcoming players from Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Uttarakhand in the final. Iciheing Ndang won silver in the 50 kg category, after victories over Punjab and Maharashtra, before going down to Uttar Pradesh in the final.

The players and officials of NTA extended gratitude to Kethosituo Sekhose, Director of the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, and Pele Khezhie, President of NTA, for their continuous support and encouragement.
