Nagaland targets 244 HWCs in 2019-20

The Nagaland Government is targeting 244 Health & Wellness Center (HWC) in 2019-20 by upgrading 146 Sub-Centres (SC), 96 Primary Health Centres (PHC) and 2 Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC) to HWCs. I Himato Zhimomi, Principal Secretary for Health & Family Welfare, informed this during a program of upgrading the Science College Sub Centre in Jotsoma under Kohima district to HWC on June 30.

Stating that HWCs lay significant importance on universal health coverage,  Zhimomi  informed that Nagaland State was able to operationalize 52 in 2018-19. USAIDS’s flagship Maternal and Child Survival Programme with support from Jhpiego is providing technical assistance at the State level and in seven districts- Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire, Longleng, Kohima, Mokokchung and Dimapur.
