Nagaland team attends 50th anniversary of APBF

Kohima, November 17 (MExN): The 50th anniversary of the Asian Pacific Baptist Federation (APBF) is being held in Singapore under the theme ‘imagining the future together’ on November 17 and 18.

An update from the DIPR stated that hundreds of delegates from different countries are attending the conference. From Nagaland, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) General Secretary, Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho and several delegates are attending the conference.

The guest of honour, Rev Dr Elijah M Brown, General Secretary, Baptist World Alliance shared on ‘Staying focused: on mission with God’ and Dr Rachel Tan, Academic Dean, TBTS spoke on ‘APBF into the future.’ 

Conversation and presentation on ‘peace, youth & theological education ministry’ and ‘God’s work through partnership’ were delivered by the resource persons.

Earlier, the welcome greetings were delivered by Rev Dr Vesekhoyi ‘Vee’ Tetso, General Secretary, APBF and Rev Dr Bobby Lee, Executive Director, Singapore Baptist Convention. Greetings were shared by past presidents including Dr Billy Kim, Korea, Rev Harry Monro and Rev Jason Das, while the APBF history was presented by Rev P Bonny Resu, former General Secretary, APBF.

Conversations were also held with the past Presidents and Leaders of PBF Youth and Women departments, stated the DIPR report.

Special presentations were made by the Nagaland Baptist Church Choir under the leadership of James Shekiye Swu and Mizoram Baptist Church, Choir. 

The Asia Pacific Baptist Federation which started as Asia Baptist Federation was founded in Hong Kong on November 16, 1972.

Presently the APBF has seven plus million Baptist believers, 65 Conventions, 40,000 local churches and 22 countries, it added.
