Dimapur, September 21 (DIPR): The Nagaland State Badminton team left for Agartala, Tripura on September 20, 2011 to participate in the upcoming North East Zone Inter State and Open Badminton Championship September 23 to 26, 2011. The team was led by R. Thsanso Yimchunger, President Tuensang District Badminton Association as the Team Manager and Sungit Ao as the Coach. The 18 players drawn from Men, Women, Junior boys and Junior girls categories were selected during the last Inter District & Open Championship held at Tuensang in July 2011. Before their departure the team had undergone a month’s preparatory coaching camp at Kohima conducted by the Nagaland Badminton Association. Joseph Sumi of Nagaland is the current Men’s single champion of the North East. He and his team mates are expected to bring home at least some titles this year too.
