
Kohima, September 13 (MExN): The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) has invited any interested Naga indigenous wrestlers to avail the opportunity of representing Nagaland state at the forth coming National Belt Wrestling Championship scheduled from October 28 to 31 at Goa. The team trial selection shall be conducted on September 24 scheduled at Indira Gandhi Stadium from 10:00 am onwards, informed a press release issued by NWA, President, Dr Hiabe Zeliang and General Secretary, Vilekho Bio.
The various categories of belt wrestling for both men and women are highlighted below:
• The weight categories for men are – 50 kg, 57kg, 65kg, 74 kg, 86 kg and 86+kg
• The weight categories for women are – 48kg, 53 kg, 58kg, 63 kg, 69kg and 69+kg
• For all the categories, the Best Wrestler shall be selected for both men and women
• For 86+ category, only 2 (Two) Wrestlers shall be selected to represent our Team
All the selected wrestlers should compulsorily attend the Coaching Camp, starting from October 18 scheduled at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
Further, all wrestlers should produce COVID-19 vaccination certificate and/or negative test result for COVID-19 (with a validity of atleast three days period on the selection date) from the competent authority. In the event of their excellent performance at the National Championship, they shall further avail the opportunity to represents Team India (Indian National Team) at the up-coming World Wrestling Championship, 2021. They should possess or produce their respective Indian passport, it stated.
Therefore, all interested wrestlers are requested to undergo proper practicing sessions and come for the selection, the Association stated.
