“We must thank you (Opposition members) for leaving us bankrupt,” said K Tokugha Sukhalu, Advisor, Department of School Education countering the criticisms on the PDA government by the Opposition bench on Monday at the NLA session.
“But with whatever limited resources that we have, we have been trying to distribute to all the departments,” he added, expressing optimism that with years of relationship of the Chief Minister with the Centre, the State government can bring funds.
Sukhalu also sought the support of the Opposition bench so that together the 60 members can bring in the necessary funds to ensure proper development. “Please give us a chance to work and after that you can judge us whether we have been transparent or whether we have fallen back but before we even start, if you start casting aspersions on us and all documents that we are trying to present, that is quite unbecoming of responsible leaders,” asserted Sukhalu.
Pointing out the directives of the Center where every contract system should be on e-payment and e-tender system, he highlighted the challenges in implementing such system where the “technological highway is always broken up by the Border Roads and various agencies constructing the roads, and laying the pipes. And with the geological landscapes where frequent landslides keep happening, all our optic fibres keep damaging.”
“To implement e-tender and e-payment system is going to be a big challenge for us,” Sukhalu admitted. “But I feel with our commitment and the commitment of the Ministry of Information Technology, we will be able to do.”
The Advisor also spoke on the need to provide the right infrastructures for the Naga youth in the field of Sports. “With attention given, we can and we will be able to give our youth a gainful environment,” viewed Sukhalu.
While good roads and good infrastructures are needed, he was also of the opinion that “if our human resources are not usable then what is the point. And to have good human resources, we need good education and good foundation.”
