Nagaland Theatre Festival on Sept 15 & 16

The Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) in collaboration with the Hill Theatre Nagaland will be hosting the ‘first’ ‘Nagaland Theatre Festival’ on September 15 and 16 at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma. 

As per the publicity material shared in connection with the festival, the first day will feature the stage “The Case of Longti Village,” a Nagamese language play adapted and directed by Bendang Walling.  The play is based on a novel by Sentilong Ozukum. 

The second day of the festival will feature workshop on acting, stage craft and property making. 

Apart from Walling, the workshop curators are Kilantemsu Imsong, Limanungdang and V Uto Chishi. 

The free workshop is opened to participants in the age group of 15 years and above.

Meanwhile, Adviser to Chief Minister Abu Metha tweeted that it is “Nagaland’s first Theatre Festival” and lauded the efforts being made by TaFMA and Hill Theatre. 

Wishing the festival all success and encouraging all citizens to be part of the event, he added: “It’s another platform for our young talents to reach out towards their aspirations while expanding the scope of the music and arts fraternity.”

In December 2022, the National School of Drama (NSD) Repertory Company hosted a three-day North East Theatre Festival 2022 in Dimapur.
