CHÜMOUKEDIMA, SEPTEMBER 3 (MExN): The Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), in collaboration with the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) and Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA), will organise the State Red Run 2025 on September 6 at the Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence, Sovima, Chümoukedima. The event is being held under the aegis of the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
The Red Run, a nationwide initiative, is aimed at creating awareness about HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), promoting healthy lifestyles, and discouraging high-risk behaviours that increase vulnerability to HIV and other STIs. Youth participation in physical activities such as marathons encourages positive lifestyle choices while fostering awareness about health, safety, and the importance of responsible behaviour.
The State Red Run 2025 will see participation from the top three male and female winners from all 17 districts of Nagaland. The event will also feature an open category, welcoming individuals aged 16 and above to participate. Participants for the open category can register by scanning the official QR code shared on the organisers’ social media platforms, @nagalandsacs and @nagalandathletics, with a registration fee of Rs 200 payable on the event day. Participants are requested to report to the venue by 7:00 AM for verification and collection of bibs.
Prizes for the event include cash awards for winners in both the state-level and open categories, with the first prize set at Rs 15,000, the second prize at Rs 12,000, and the third prize at Rs 10,000. The open category will also award the fourth and fifth positions with Rs 8,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. Alongside fostering competition, the Red Run seeks to enhance knowledge about HIV/AIDS, encourage the use of HIV/STI services, and reduce stigma and discrimination associated with the disease.
The organisers hope the State Red Run 2025 will strengthen community awareness and engagement, promote fitness and wellbeing, and provide an opportunity for youth to embrace healthy lifestyle choices while advocating for kindness, responsibility, and safe practices.
