Resources persons and officials during training workshop on psychosocial care in disaster management in Kohima.

Kohima, April 29 (MExN): A training workshop on psychosocial care in disaster management: health sector preparation and response was held from April 24 to 28 in collaboration with the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, and Implemented by the Department of Psychosocial Support in Disaster Management, NIMHANS, Bengaluru.
The training programme was inaugurated by Dr Ritu Thurr, Mission Director NHM. He stated in his speech that mental health is an important aspect of our well being, an update from IEC Bureau, DH&FW stated.
During the five-day intensive training, Dr Sanjeev Kumar Manikappa, Asst. Professor, DPSSDM, NIMHANS, Anil, Research Officer and Chongpongchila, Master Trainer, Psychosocial Care in Disaster Management deliberated on Hazard Risks, Vulnerability Analysis, Impact of disaster needs assessment, normal and abnormal stress reactions, Psychosocial first aid strategies, basic techniques of Psychosocial care, Impact of disaster on women and children, self care and psychosocial interventions, strategies for the disaster survivors.
Valedictory function was attended by Dr Vibeituonuo M Sachu, Principal Director DH&FW, Dr E Motsuthung Patton, Director Health DH&FW, Dr Ritu Thurr, Mission Director NHM, Dr. Shekhar, Senior Consultant, PPSSDM, NIMHANS. A total of 50 participants, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, psychiatric social workers, psychiatric nurses and community nurses from various districts attended the training.
