Kohima, March 5 (MExN): The Nagaland Department of Transport has directed all driving license holders and vehicle owners to update their registered mobile numbers at Regional/District Transport Offices within one month.
The department justified the directive by citing Rule 14 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, which requires applicants for Driving Licenses to provide a mobile number for entry into the Sarathi application.
Likewise, it referenced Rule 47 of the CMVR, 1989, which mandates vehicle owners to provide their mobile numbers during vehicle registration for entry in the Vahan application, it outlined in a notification.
Accordingly, the department has informed all concerned to update their mobile numbers in their mobile numbers.
The notification, however, did not specify whether the directive applies to all individuals or only to those whose mobile numbers are not linked to the Vahan or Sarathi applications.
