Gov reviews progress of road projects

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 5 (MExN): Nagaland Governor, RN Ravi today held a review meeting on the ongoing road projects in Nagaland at Raj Bhavan Kohima. 

The meeting was attended by Sentiyanger Imchen, ACS & FC (representing the Chief Secretary), Rovilatuo Mor, Commissioner; Mohammed Shihab Ali A, DC, Kohima; senior officials from the NHIDCL; and contractors.

A press release from the Raj Bhavan informed that the projects reviewed included the Kohima-Jessami road, Kohima-bypass road, Kohima-Mao road, Dimapur-Peren road and Changtongya-Longleng road.

The Governor was informed that the slow progress of road works was due to occurrence of rock slides for the past few months along the stretch of the Kohima-Dimapur four lane project. The Governor meanwhile asked the contractors to expedite the ongoing work and to achieve the target as assured by them. 

The NHIDCL officials highlighted hiccups in certain districts resulting in the stoppage of ongoing works. Regarding this, the Governor has asked the State Government to resolve the matter at the earliest.  The NHIDCL reportedly assured finish the construction of two lane roads along the 4 lane Dimapur-Kohima road before December 15.
