Kohima, June 19 (MExN): The Under-15 team of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) will depart for Nagpur on June 20 to participate in the National Wrestling Championship, scheduled to be held from June 21 to 22, in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
The team, comprising seven wrestlers and two coaches, is led by Nagaland State Coach Kikhwesül Thokhwe and Vekhriyi Chüzho, Technical Secretary, NWA.
The players are C Renjanthung Jami (38 Kg), Peilungningteibo (41 Kg), and Nuvove Theluo (48 Kg) in the Freestyle category; Vimeyie Zecho (48 Kg) in the Greco-Roman style; and Sedengunuo Zecho (33 Kg), Esther (42 Kg), and Chumoi Phom (46 Kg) in Women’s Wrestling.
The championship is being organised by the Maharashtra Rajya Kustigir Sangh under the aegis of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
Meanwhile, the NWA informed that a brief send-off programme for the team was held today at Wrestling Hall B, Indira Gandhi Stadium, where President Vivolie Kezo exhorted the players.
The NWA also appealed to the public and the wrestling fraternity to uphold the team in their prayers.
