
Kohima, June 1 (MExN): As Nagaland is gearing up for the upcoming ULB elections, Er Imsanger Jamir, a resident of Merhülietsa Colony, Kohima has announced his candidature. A Computer Science Engineering graduate from Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, Er Imsanger is a candidate from Ward-No. 18, Lower Agri & Merhülietsa Colony, Kohima.
A press release received here stated that Imsanger grew up in Merhülietsa (Paramedical) Colony and “is fervent about serving his community.” He did his research in Cyber Security and is a computer programmer. “With the knowledge, skills and experiences he has acquired over time, he is determined to break the general society's preconceived notion about the nature of politics and be a necessary positive change,” it stated.
Imsanger has served as the president of Naga Students Union, Phagwara, Punjab (2020-2023). The press release reported that during the Covid-19 pandemic, “the Union under his leadership undertook several measures to help the stranded students in Phagwara. He is reported to have initiated and assisted the Nagaland Government in facilitating a 2,300 km bus journey for Naga workers & students in Punjab.”
He also served as the president of North-East Students Organisation, Jalandhar, Punjab (NESOJ) for 2022-2023.
Imsanger believes that the upcoming ULB elections will provide him the right platform to channel his passion to serve. “He has a conviction to start from the grassroot level and slowly progress towards a clear goal to bring about tangible development in the society. His campaign is aimed at prioritizing transparency, efficiency and awareness to the people. He is determined to make basic amenities and rights a lived reality,” the press release claimed.
Meanwhile, Imsanger has appealed to the members of Ward No. 18, Kohima for “an opportunity to serve them” and further encouraged the citizens to “utilize their suffrage, participating together in building a better community.” He also anticipates “a healthy competition among his fellow candidates” and extended his complete cooperation throughout the process.
