Lumami, October 11 (MExN): The Department of Psychology at Nagaland University observed World Mental Health Day with a fest featuring competitions and a special programme centred on the theme “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies.”

The event, PSYCHSPARK, held on October 10, included activities such as reels and poster competitions, and the screening of an original short film, ‘Eunoia,’ developed by the department to raise mental health awareness.

Prof N Venuh, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the university's Kohima Campus, attended as the special guest and encouraged the gathering to find peace through sharing and healthy practices.

Dr Hovisuto Khieya, a Junior Research Fellow under a DRDO project, addressed the theme, highlighting critical issues affecting mental health in today's society and stressing the need for accessible services during conflicts and emergencies.

The programme also featured a special musical performance by a student, conveying the message that “Suicide is never the answer.”

Faculty, scholars, and students from various departments attended the event, which was chaired by Kezhasenuo Kesiezie, a guest faculty member. Dr Imlisongla Longkumer, Head of the Department of Psychology, delivered the vote of thanks.
