Kohima, March 1 (MExN): ‘TechAura 2024’ Nagaland University’s three-day tech fest concluded with a closing ceremony on February 28.

The valedictory guest, Professor Neivetso Venuh, former Pro-Vice Chancellor of NU Kohima Campus emphasised the looming threat of artificial intelligence (AI) on young learners and professionals with the caution, “AI is a threat to human intelligence.” He reiterated the dynamism of technology in his statement “Degree alone will not help” and encouraged students to opt for manual tasks over digital dependency. He counseled the students to learn skills that are not taught in textbooks. Despite infrastructural limitations, Venuh pushed the students to invest in ideas by applying scientific knowledge to traditional technology.

The honoured guest, Katho P Awomi, Speaker, Naga Students’ Federation, related his observations on the contradictions of human nature, Nagas are consumed by ‘-isms,’ political corruption, unhealthy habits and misled by false propaganda. He implored the students to rediscover their true identities in bringing about social corrections.

Dr Imlitoshi Jamir, Advisor, TechAura 2024, advised outgoing students to readily accept job placements outside of the state, thus, positively impacting the next generation. Noting the fest’s accomplishment, Jamir stated how the events provide an empowering platform for neighbouring institutes and anticipated the festival’s further growth in the future.

Earlier, a classical dance was performed by Linkoi Neinum and Augustina Krechana presented a special song.

The events succeeding the closing ceremony included Truss Bridge Exhibition and Testing, Fashion Show (recycled materials) and Battle of Bands. The concert’s highlight event included a special appearance by Annie’s Ok, winner of TechAura 2019 ‘Battle of the Bands’ and main stage artist at the Hornbill International Music Festival 2023.
