The COVID-19 induced lockdown in Nagaland has been undergoing phase-wise unlocking since July this year. On Tuesday, High Power Committee (HPC) spokesperson Neiba Kronu notified that the Unlock 8 in the state would begin from November 1 till December 15.

The decision was taken today at a review meeting of HPC, chaired by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

Briefing media persons after the meeting, HPC spokesperson and State Planning and Coordination Minister Neiba Kronu said that the current Unlock 7 will end on October 31.

Regarding the reopening of schools for Classes 1-4, the Minister said that HPC has recommended resumption of classes in urban areas as well.

However, he said the decision will depend with the respective District Task Forces whether to resume classes or not.
He also informed of the HPC’s decision to lift the night curfew.

Further, Kronu said that the HPC has decided to allow the celebration of Hornbill Festival this year.

However, tourists will be allowed to the festival based on COVID vaccination status, he said.
