Nagaland took a step towards strengthening youth employment and skilling initiatives with the launch of the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM) portal at the State-Wide Mega Job Fair 2026 held in Dimapur on March 21.
Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman IDAN, Abu Metha, launched the NSEDM portal during the inaugural programme.
The job fair, organised at the Integrated Business Hub & Innovation Centre (IBH&IC), Forest Colony, brought together a wide range of employers and job seekers, offering opportunities across multiple sectors.
The event was organised by NSEDM in collaboration with the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) Kohima, and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, with the aim of connecting youth to employment avenues at the local, national and international levels.
Addressing the occasion, Metha conveyed greetings from Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio and lauded the efforts of the organising team, led by NSEDM Project Lead Meripeni Ngullie, for facilitating employment opportunities for a large number of youth.
Encouraging participants, he said that taking the first step by attending such programmes was itself significant in building a career. He urged candidates to be honest and authentic during interviews, adding that individuality matters more than attempting to impress.
Highlighting the importance of continuous learning, he noted that access to knowledge has expanded through technology and encouraged youth to make productive use of digital tools to enhance their skills. He also emphasised that while initial employment may not always align with aspirations, it should be seen as a stepping stone, with character and integrity playing a crucial role in long-term growth.
Metha further pointed out that job opportunities are not limited to the State, with placements available across regions including Europe, the Middle East and other parts of Asia. He reiterated the government’s commitment to creating platforms that link youth with employment opportunities and urged young people to represent Nagaland positively wherever they go.
The day-long job fair covered sectors such as home support services, manufacturing, hospitality and aviation, construction, technical trades, healthcare, IT and IT-enabled services, culinary, and sales and retail.
According to the State DIPR, the initiative provided a platform for job seekers to interact with recruiters, explore career paths and gain exposure to diverse industries.
More than 1,000 applicants registered for the event, with participation from multiple companies offering opportunities for both skilled and unskilled candidates, it said.
Applicants can continue to register through the NSEDM portalhttps://nsedm.nagaland.gov/, enabling them to access job opportunities and updates beyond the one-day event.
Representatives from organisations including ASPOREA, ITC and ASMACS also addressed participants, highlighting sector-specific opportunities and stressing the importance of skill development, professionalism and adaptability in a competitive job market
