Nagaland: USLP clarifies on NSCN (IM) statement

Kiphire, February 28 (MExN): The United Sangtam Likhüm Pümji (USLP) on Friday issued a clarification with regard to a press statement issued by United Sangtam Region (USR) of the NSCN (IM) on February 26 in the media and various social media platforms.

In a press release, USLP President T. Seopi Sangtam clarified that “since the genesis of the Indo-Naga political talk USLP has ceaselessly extended support and co-operation to all Naga political groups and as such it has never endorsed any particular group at any given point of time.”

The release stated that USLP attended the meeting called by USR, NSCN (IM) on February 25 at Dimapur in “good faith and goodwill.” However, it said,  the press statement issued by USR, NSCN (IM) is “contrary to what was discuss in the meeting as USLP never endorsed any particular group but rather it called for all Naga political groups to come together.” The support and cooperation of USLP lies in the greater interest of the society, it added

Re-iterating its earlier decision, USLP stated that it stands with the position of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organisation (ENPO) with regard to the Indo- Naga political talks.
