‘Nagaland wants to develop industrialization’

Kohima | May 23 : Parliamentary secretary Industries and Commerce, Dr. K.C Nihose said Nagaland grassland has immense scope and potentials but due to lack of infrastructural development, investors and expertise, many Naga youth cannot be placed in the most deserved professional institutions. Addressing the investors at the Investors Meet at Kohima, today at Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Nihoshe expressed his gratitude to Ministry of Doners and officials of ICC for taking keen interest by organizing the meet.
Recalling the interest of ICC member Sen Gupta to invest in Nagaland, in Agri, Horticulture, mines and hydro electricity power, Nihoshe said besides the limited resources, Nagaland state will extend full cooperation and opined the investors to have thorough consultation with the concern department and submit the assessment to the state government. He added that DAN government is very keen for development and though population is less, literacy rate is high and the state government is finding all possible way to fit the uneducated unemployed youth into government sector, “we want to develop industrialization where youth can take up job”.
Pointing on the area where investors can ponder upon, Nihoshe said all the 11 districts in Nagaland has a rich big fertile soil especially Mokokchung which has a befitting soil for horti stating that almost 30-40% food are wasted as the state does not have a food processing industry and shared the need food processing scale adding that the department has sent a proposal to the ministry, however, expressed the inability of the state government that cannot do alone and articulated the involvement of the investors.
He also said that the state government is putting its effort to bring commercial scale on Medicinal plant which is found in Nagaland. Education is another need he refreshed on infrastructures to deliver quality education to the students. Also in health sectors, he said the deserved skilled youth could not be placed in the most reputed institutions and hospitals though felt the need and he extended the investors on this matter also. Dwelling on Environmental protection, Nihoshe said that Nagaland has a very pleasant weather where if only development could be done environment and Mother Earth can be saved.
Furthermore Nihoshe briefed the investors on power hydro project where more than ten majors rivers in Nagaland flows through out the year, saying “we require power for any industrialization”, and said once the power is stable in Nagaland it can be shared even in other states. He also said that there are vast scope in new and renewable energy that cannot be carry out due to lack of investors and expertise and urged the investors to look into this matter as well.
The parliamentary secretary assured all possible help, urging the investors not to hesitate in investing in Nagaland as it has a very peaceful state and crime rape cases has gone down and urged to begin their project without any hesitation.
Chief Secretary Lalthara in his keynote address said negotiation on investor’s meet/potential investors and new policy has been on for a long time, however it could not attain conclusion.
He also pointed out on the need for viable funding for potential areas where investors should come in and can concentrate on food turning into a viable industry.
ICC Member, Sen Gupta said ICC has a special focus in organizing the Investor Meet, meeting the government officials, ministers or state government. He expressed his hope that this meet will be a stepping stone towards implementation of various projects in the state of Nagaland.
19 investors from different state bearing multi projects, officers from various departments attended the meet. The Meet was followed by one to one meeting with state government senior officials and investors and also scheduled to meet the state government with details of their projects to discuss on all possible modalities on a one to one basis. The entire coordination of the meeting was handled by ICC officials.
