Nagaland wins six medals at National Armwrestling Championship

The Nagaland team put up an impressive performance at the National Armwrestling and Para Armwrestling Championship 2025, securing a total of six medals at the event held at VKN Menon Indoor Stadium, Thrissur (Trichur), Kerala, from June 28 to July 2.

The championship saw participation from top athletes across the country. Representing Nagaland, six athletes competed in various categories, with several returning home as medalists.

Vethozo Lohe emerged as one of the standout performers, winning silver in the Senior 80 kg Right Arm category, silver in the Youth 80 kg Left Arm, and bronze in the Youth 80 kg Right Arm events. Avilie Zuyie also impressed with a gold medal in the Youth 100 kg Right Arm and a silver in the Youth 100 kg Left Arm category. Inamul Borah added to the tally with a bronze medal in the Masters 80 kg Right Arm division.

Team members Abhishek Pradhan and Aryan Borah narrowly missed out on podium finishes but earned praise for their strong fourth-place standings in their respective categories.

Nagaland Armwrestling Association president Neli Dominic expressed happiness over the team’s achievements and lauded the hard work and discipline shown by the athletes. He informed that the team will return to Nagaland on July 5. Other members of the contingent included Dzüziengulie Rame.
