Mokokchung, June 27 (MExN): The Department of Water Resources, Government of Nagaland organised a programme for commissioning and handing over function of Shiyong M.I project at Aliba Village, Mokokchung, under PMKSY- Har Khet Ko Pani on June 26. It was attended by Advisor for Water Resources Department (WRD), Government of Nagaland, Tongpang Ozukum as the special guest, stated a DIPR report.
Presenting the technical report on Shiyong M.I project, Er Sobu Angami, Addl Chief Engineer, WRD informed that the project was funded through PMKSY (HKKP), CSS of MoJS, GOI with the estimated cost of Rs 141.92 lakh. He said that the commencement of the work started on March 2021 and the completion of the work on April 2024. The area coverage is 69 Ha and the water spread area of the water body created 3.00 Ha. The project was executed by Executive Engineer Mokokchung Division, Water Resources Department.
Earlier, in his address, Ozukum urged upon all the agri & allied department to provide all the logistics support and necessary infrastructure that is required at the project. With the commission of the project there is potential of tourism and recreation, fisheries and aquaculture which will benefit the villagers economically, he added. Ozukum also handed over the project to the Water User Association (WUA) of Shiyong M.I Project.
The project’s Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the department was signed by Er Karipomg Walling, Executive Engineer, WRD Mokokchung. Short speech was delivered by Tatongkaba Pongen, Chairman Aliba Village Council and special song was presented by Nungshikala Pongen. The programme commenced with invocation by Rev Nungshi Pongen, Pastor Aliba Baptist Church, while vote of thanks was proposed by Er Sademkaba Ozukum, EE WRD Mokokchung. The programme was led by Imtisungkum UDA, WRD Mokokchung.
