Nagaland yet to achieve required financial utilisation for next PMGSY grant

Nagaland is yet to achieve the required financial utilisation to be eligible for the next grant under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Union Minister of Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan informed the Rajya Sabha. An unspent PMGSY fund of Rs 74.81 crore was available with the State as of April 1, 2024, he added in a written reply to a query on the implementation of PMGSY in the State, posed by S Phangnon Konyak, Nagaland’s lone Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, on December 13. According to the reply, under the unit programme ‘habitation,’ nine eligible habitations in Nagaland have been provided all-weather road connectivity under PMGSY since the financial year 2021-22.

Further, during the last three financial years (2021-22 to 2023-24), central funds amounting to Rs 489.74 crore have been released to Nagaland under all verticals of PMGSY, the minister highlighted.  The State Government has also released the corresponding share of Rs 54.41 crore during the same period, he added.
