Dimapur, May 5 (MExN): The Minister Environment, Forests & Climate Change and Parliamentary Affairs C.M. Chang visited Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar on May 5 and inaugurated one room extension of Security Camp. On the occasion, the Minister declared Nagaland Zoological Park as a ‘Polythene Free Zone’ and also initiated “Beautification and Greening of Nagaland Zoological Park Programme.”
A press release issued by Obed Bohovi Swu, Director, Nagaland Zoological Park informed that the Minister was accompanied by Dr. Longriniken, Advisor for Law & Justice, Border Affairs and Treasuries & Accounts and H. Haiying, Advisor for Prisons, Printing & Stationery.
The minister stressed on the importance of Veterinary and Healthcare facilities in management of a Zoological Park. He expressed his surprise that the Zoo was functioning without a Veterinary Hospital and Fulltime Veterinary Doctor along with Veterinary Staff. Chang reminded the staff that Nagas are well known for our hospitality. He called upon the staff to make the Zoo popular and make the Zoo important. While speaking about the Polythene Free Zone, the minister felt that the guilty should be punished.
The staffs also interacted with the minister and requested him to construct more watch towers and all weather patrolling road. They also requested to construct new quarters and take other welfare measure for the staff residing inside the Park colony.
Advisor Dr. Longriniken in his speech during the occasion reminded about the importance of Veterinary Hospital in the Zoo and creation of post for Veterinary Doctor. Advisor H. Haiying expressed appreciation towards the staff and reminded them that Forest Department is one of the important Departments and urged the staff to take the department forward. S.P.Tripathi, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Chief Wildlife warden Nagaland shared that Nagaland Zoological Park is one of the 25 model Zoos of the country.
Imtienla, Secretary Environment, Forest & Climate Change who also accompanied the Minister urged the staff to “Be the change you want to be.”
