Nagaland’s 17th Axis Bank branch inaugurated in Kohima

MLA Dr Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso formally inaugurated Axis Bank Lerie Branch in Kohima on May 22. With this, Lerie branch became the 17th Axis Bank Branch in Nagaland and 5th branch in Kohima. Lerie Branch is located along National Highway-2, opposite Lerie Baptist Church.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Dr Ato thanked Axis Bank Ltd for opening a new branch in Kohima city. He called upon the youth to grab the opportunity and know their responsibility to deal with the bank for a robust economic growth. “We should know our responsibility in repayment of loans so that the clients and the bank grow together,” he said.

Poujaulung, Cluster Head, Axis Bank Ltd Dimapur Cluster said that all banking service related matters will be available at Lerie Branch. “This branch will be a full-fledged branch where all the banking services will be given to our customers,” he said.

The branch will cater to savings, current & TD, Loans - Retail & GSS including govt products - PPF, APY, NPS, GSS, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana etc. “We will also be providing loans.

Micro finance is also available,” said Poujaulung. W have got Forex, Cards & MAB, Investments - MF, Demat, Digital Gold, Life & Non Life Insurance, Digital Solutions, Internet Banking, WhatsApp Banking, Fastag, Digital Rupee, he said. “Our bank is focusing much on digital solutions,” he said.

Eyes expansion across Nagaland
Poujaulung said that Axis Bank Ltd has a total deposits of Rs 10 lakh crore in India with 15786 crore in North East and Rs. 2088 crore in Nagaland. He informed that Axis Bank Ltd has 5868 branches in India as on April 2025. It has 202 branches in North East. There are 17 Axis Bank Branches in seven districts of Nagaland, located at Kohima, Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Mon, Wokha, Zunheboto and Mokokchung.

“We are planning to reach out to other districts also,” he said adding that the same will be done within this financial year.  

He said that there 150 plus Axis Bank employees in Nagaland with local people constitutes 95% of the staff. Axis Bank Ltd has 14528 ATM in India with 329 ATMs in North East and 27 in Nagaland.

Poujaulung informed that churches, schools and societies can also open account with Axis Bank and avail the digital solution like fee collection and various other forms.

Meanwhile, he sought the public support by way of opening account with them.

Landlord Zekuovi Khatso also spoke at the programme. The programme was chaired by Pusatonu Meze, Teller Lerie Branch while Vikehenuo Zumvii, Relationship Manager, Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Co Ltd presented special number.

Atho Sothu, Pastor, Lerie Baptist Church invoked God’s blessings while vote of thanks was proposed by Anili Yeptho, Branch Operations Head, Axis Bank Ltd Lerie Branch. Ex-MLA Medokul Sophie, former Nagaland’s commissioner Rovilatuo Mor and several other dignitaries were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
