Nagaland’s COVID 19 tally continues to rise

With 75 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, the total tally of positive cases in the State now stands at 1,460

Out of 75 new cases, as many as 51 were reported from State’s capital, Kohima, while the rest were from Dimapur, Phek, Wokha, Mon, Dimapur and Tuensang. 

The state also reported 8 recoveries, taking the number of recovered cases to 577 with a recovery rate of 39%.

With this, the total number of active cases in the state now stands at 878.

According to an official statement, the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals and COVID-19 Care Centres. Further, active surveillance and contact tracing is also in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection.

As per the severity of symptoms, out of the 878 active cases, 875 active cases are asymptomatic and 2 active cases are mild and 1 active case is moderate.

As of July 27, official data from the Department of Health and Family Welfare stated that 5 deaths reported from Dimapur were “under investigation for establishing whether they are COVID-19 related deaths.”

However, on Tuesday, the number was reduced to 4 with a disclaimer that “There has been 1 death which was COVID-19 positive, but the death is not related to COVID-19.”
