Nagaland’s COVID-19 tally reaches 902

Dimapur, July 15 (MExN): Six more persons from Dimapur tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday taking the state's tally of confirmed cases to 902.


The new cases were reported out of 170 samples that were sent for testing, according to updates from Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom on Twitter.


The Minister further informed that the state also recorded two recoveries on July 15 with – one each from Kohima and Dimapur. “We are monitoring the recovered patients under close observation,” he added.


With this, the total recovered cases now stand at 348 and the number of active cases is now at 554.


In his routine briefing, Principal Secretary (Home) Abhijit Sinha informed that all the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals and COVID-19 Care Centres. “Further, active surveillance and contact tracing is in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection,’ he added.


As per the severity of symptoms, 539 active cases are asymptomatic and 15 active cases are mild.


Sinha meanwhile appealed the public to contact the State Helpline Number 1800 345 0019 of the Health & Family Welfare Department, “if anyone develops any signs and symptoms of cough, fever or difficulty in breathing.”
