
DIMAPUR, JULY 30 (MExN): With a view to enhancing the existing structures and processes, including embracing technology integration into the system, the Department of Food & Civil Supplies held a coordination meeting with KT Sukhalu, IAS (Retd.), Advisor, Food & Civil Supplies, on July 29 at the Directorate of Food & Civil Supplies, Dimapur. The meeting was attended by Wonchio Odyuo, Secretary, Food & Civil Supplies, and other departmental officers.
Delivering the welcome address, Vekhoyi Chakhesang, Director, F&CS, who recently joined the Department—underlined the significance of working in a coordinated manner and sought the cooperation of all officers to strengthen the Department in delivering quality services to the public.
The Department’s MIS team gave a presentation on the Ration Card Management System (RCMS) and Integrated Aadhaar-enabled Supply Chain Management (IAeSCM) under SMART PDS. The upcoming implementation of the Vehicle Location Tracking System (VLTS), as mandated by the Government of India to monitor real-time vehicle movement, was also highlighted.
Further, the Department shared updates on ongoing initiatives such as Route Optimization to reduce transportation costs of food grains and the installation and integration of Electronic Weighing Scales (EWS) with ePoS devices across all Fair Price Shops (FPS). Additionally, it was informed that the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, GoI, will soon launch new mobile applications including Mera Ration App, Anna Mitra, and Anna Sahayata App.
Advisor KT Sukhalu shared his insights on enhancing efficiency in view of the department’s transformation to IT based platforms for all its activities. He also emphasized the importance of equipping staff with the necessary skills in Information Technology, given the department’s increasing reliance on digital platforms.
He further stressed the department officials to continue sensitizing the public and all the stakeholders to adapt to the new technological applications introduced in the Public Distribution System. The Advisor encouraged the officials to rededicate themselves to public service and stressed that welfare schemes must be effectively implemented and delivered at the grassroots level through district officers.
Wonchio Odyuo, Secretary, F&CS in his address urged everyone to work with sincerity, honesty, and transparency to improve service delivery. He emphasized the need for coherent and collaborative efforts across all levels.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Dr Kapenlo Thong, Joint Director, expressed gratitude to all attendees for prioritizing the meeting. He called for continued cooperation and dedication to fulfilling the Department’s mission to serve the public effectively.
