Nagaland’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue, as well as its taxpayer base, increased in June, continuing the upward trend observed in the first three months of the current 2025–26 financial year compared to the same period last fiscal.

According to the State-wise GST monthly revenue update published on the GST portal (https://www.gst.gov.in/) on July 1, Nagaland recorded Rs 84 crore in GST revenue in June 2025. Compared to the same month last year, this represents a significant 71% increase—from Rs 49 crore to Rs 84 crore.

The June collection, which excludes GST on the import of goods, also marks an increase from Rs 65 crore recorded in May.

Nagaland’s GST collection for FY 2025–26 began on a strong note with a record-breaking Rs 122 crore collected in April, followed by Rs 65 crore in May and Rs 84 crore in June. With this, the State has collected a total of Rs 271 crore in the first three months of the current fiscal year.

Of this amount, Rs 113 crore was collected by Central GST authorities, comprising Rs 44 crore from Central GST (CGST), Rs 56 crore from State GST (SGST), Rs 12 crore from Integrated GST (IGST), and Rs 1 crore as compensation cess.

The remaining Rs 158 crore was collected by State formations: Rs 60 crore from CGST, Rs 74 crore from SGST, Rs 22 crore from IGST, and Rs 3 crore as compensation cess.

Collectively, the revenue stood at Rs 104 crore from CGST, Rs 130 crore from SGST, and Rs 34 crore from IGST. Cess collection for the April–June period totalled Rs 4 crore.

Meanwhile, the taxpayer base further increased to 11,147 in June.

Since the 11,019 GST-registered taxpayers recorded in April, the number of Goods and Services Tax Identification Numbers (GSTINs) in the State has risen by 128.

At the national level, India’s total GST collection for June 2025 stood at Rs 1.38 lakh crore. While this marks a 4.60% increase compared to Rs 1.32 lakh crore collected during the same period last year, it is lower than the Rs 1.49 lakh crore collected in May.

Nagaland along with the rest of India, meanwhile, observed GST Day 2025 under the theme “GST: Simplifying Taxes; Empowering Citizens” at the State Taxes Conference Hall, Dimapur on July 1. 

The programme, organised by the Commissioner of State Taxes, Nagaland, in collaboration with the Commissioner of Central GST, Dimapur,  featured the presentation of commendation and appreciation certificates to outstanding officers, technicians, business houses, and professionals for their exemplary service, compliance, and commitment to voluntary tax contribution.
GST regime was first rolled out on July 1, 2017.
