DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 16 (MExN): Mecievi Khieya, a young football talent from Kohima, Nagaland, has made history by becoming the first player from the state to debut for a professional football club abroad. He officially played for Thonburi United FC in Thai League 3 during an away match against Assumption United, where his team secured a 4-1 victory.

Khieya came on during the second half of the game, marking his debut in one of Thailand’s national leagues. His selection came after a trial event titled “Nagaland’s Next Top Player,” held in Kohima in February. The event was organized by Thonburi United FC and the Department of Youth Resources and Sports Nagaland, in collaboration with SC Nagaland and Nagaland FA.
