Nagaland’s new civil service probationers begin training at ATI

ATI, Kohima inaugurated the combined foundation course for the 2025 batch of Nagaland Civil Service (NCS) Probationers and Block Development Officers (BDO) on November 17.

Kohima, November 19 (MExN): The Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Kohima inaugurated the combined foundation course for the 2025 batch of Nagaland Civil Service (NCS) Probationers and Block Development Officers (BDO) on November 17.

The inaugural programme saw the participation of 10 NCS and 14 BDO Officer Trainees, all of whom were selected through the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) Civil Services Examination. Following the combined induction, the NCS Probationers will continue with their one-year Foundation Course at the institute.

In his special address, the Director General of ATI, V Shashank Shekhar, IAS, emphasised the importance of camaraderie, integrity, and public service.

He congratulated the trainees on their success in a “transparent, fair, and competitive recruitment process” and urged them to uphold these values in their careers. “Remain true and alive to your conscience at all times,” Shekhar, who is also the Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture) and Agricultural Production Commissioner, advised the officer trainees.

He reminded the cohort that the core function of the government is to work for the common people, stating that contributing to society would bring them fulfilment. He concluded by emphasising the need to “listen to people with empathy.”

The programme was chaired by Asalie Lese, NCS, Deputy Secretary to the Government of Nagaland. An overview of the course was presented by Dr A Alem W Longchar.

The event was also attended by officers from ATI and members of the NCS Probationers 2024 batch, who are nearing the completion of their training.
