Dimapur, May 11 (MExN): All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary and In-charge of Nagaland state, Dr. K. Jayakumar along with a team of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) visited Zunheboto and Mokokchung on May 10 and 11 respectively.
According to a press release from the Media Cell, NPCC, Dr. Jayakumar, addressing party workers at Zunheboto, blasted the NPF-BJP Govt and said that the people have not heard of any special plan or non-plan assistance for Nagaland after the BJP Govt. came to power and that the only funds received by the state are those awarded by the 14th Finance Commission. On the same note, he added, “Nagaland’s roads are unfit to be called roads”.
Also stating that the BJP Govt’s primary objective is to enforce the Uniform Civil Code, the AICC Secretary warned that if BJP succeeds in implementing it, all special provisions including Art. 370, 371a, b, c etc. “will become dormant”.
On the defections of Congress MLAs to NPF, the AICC Secretary commented that the “impossible are possible in Nagaland” and that immense wrongs are happening in the state. In this regard, he called on Congressmen and women to stand by ideologies, principles and programmes so that the people would make Congress return to power in 2018 "for our maturity, stability and clean image".
Dr. Jayakumar also raised doubts on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement about Naga agreement commenting, “Perhaps there is no agreement as nobody has seen it”.
He charged Modi of “cheating” not only the Nagas but the world. His words and his actions are different, Dr. Jayakumar insisted and argued that his promises of Rs. 15 lakh to every citizen’s bank account and Make in India also turned out to be frauds.
Stating that non-BJP political parties are working on a mega alliance to take on BJP in the Presidential election in July 2017, the AICC Secretary informed that the DMK has invited leaders of all non-BJP political parties on the birthday of Karunanidhi on June 5 with the objective to stop the BJP in the Presidential elections as well as the 2019 General Elections.
NPCC President K. Therie who also spoke on the occasion claimed that there is “complete polarization” in the state. Also claiming that the NPF-BJP is heading for a four-way split, Therie added that all the four groups have the same agenda and that is “to corrupt public funds”.
15 years of corruption has “finished” Nagaland and the NPF-led government will be remembered for corruption, nepotism and backdoor appointments, he argued.
Therie further went on to claim that Congress is the “only alternative party” which can give “clean and God-fearing” government which will deliver the goods to the people such as Civil Supplies, MGNREGA, Cashless Health Cards for all citizens of Nagaland. In this regard, the NPCC President asked the ACCCs and DCC to “identify God-fearing clean candidates”.
He also urged the party workers to go to the people with the NPCC Roadmap which is the Congress’ preliminary Manifesto and to seek suggestions and improvements so as to finalize the Election Manifesto.
Addressing Party Workers’ meeting at Mokokchung on Thursday, Dr. Jayakumar said that accepting the RSS’s nomination for Vice Presidential Candidate would be a “great dishonor” to the people of Nagaland and also an “act of betrayal”.
