Pooja Film Production released their 17th Nagamese film “Black cat” Monday afternoon at Book Mart, opposite Naga Shopping Arcade, Dimapur, with NPF central general secretary and social worker, Basu Damani, as chief guest and social worker from Assam, Ratan Singh, as guest of honour.
The chief guest who released the CD of the film in his address at the release and screening ceremony described the founder of Pooja Film Production, Ajay Kumar, (who is also director and producer all the 17 Nagamese films) of as a ‘trail blazer’ in Nagamese films and said that Kumar would remain a source of inspiration for upcoming producers and directors of Nagamese films.
Narrating his personal experience with the pioneer Nagamese film director, Damani said that Kumar started from the scratch and even after more than two decades of being in the film business, the director still remains a down to earth person. “Despite the fact that the film industry in Nagaland is still and unorganized and unrecognized sector, Ajay Kumar has overcome all odds and continue to produce Nagamese films while others have given up in despair,” the chief guest said.
Damani said that all aspiring Nagamese film directors and producers can draw one inspiration from Kumar that is never to be discouraged or give up one’s vision. Stressing on Nagamese as an important source of communication, especially in rural areas, Damani said Naga public in general should come forward, acknowledge and support such ventures  (Nagamese films) so that one day the state too can boast of its own film industry.
Ajay Kumar in a brief introduction said that all his films are produced with a view to contribute towards “peace and development” in the state and also to provide gainful employment to Naga youth. Admitting that his films may not be up to the mark to many audiences due to shoe-string budgets and other constraints, the film director however said that he was constantly improvising.
Among other special invitees to the film premiere included social worker from Assam, Ratan Singh and secretary, Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Shikuto Sema.
‘Black Cat’ is an action-packed film with Akali Awomi and Asangla Imsong as the leading heroines.
