Nagas in the state of Manipur are all set to hold rallies on August 9 in the district headquarters of Chandel, Tamenglong, Ukhrul and Senapati to register their “collective sentiment to the Government of India for exercising political will to hammer out an early negotiated solution to the protracted Indo-Naga political issue in the spirit of Framework Agreement”. According to the UNC, some of the slogans for the rallies, besides for “an early negotiated solution”, include “No further bifurcation of Naga areas”. The UNC statement had stated earlier said that the “inordinate delay in signing the final agreement is a cause for concern and has the potential to derail the peace negotiation”.
