The 29th general meeting of Ao Senden, the apex body of the Ao Nagas, was held today at Town Hall, Mokokchung. The meeting was chaired by the Ao Senden office bearers and a short exhortation was delivered by Dr. SC Jamir. Jamir said Nagas need to deliberate and think deeply about the future, adding “we should not wait for people to bring change or to do things but realize it ourselves and do what needs to be done with clear vision.”

He lamented that the “Naga society is in a state of confusion and Naga politics has landed in a pool of madness.” Nagas, Jamir stated, are “living in a society where there is no peace, no understanding and no scope for the future.” He added that the Nagas, the Ao people in particular have a ‘never-mind’ attitude which is making them lack behind in all fields.

Jamir also talked about the Naga Framework Agreement and said Nagas should know what is really there in the Framework Agreement and that the people should not be excluded in knowing the truth.

Moatoshi Jamir was elected as the new president, while Chubawati Longchar, Imtipokyim, and Aretemjen Jamir were selected as the vice-president, general secretary and assistant general secretary respectively.

The meeting concluded after a discussion hour and concluding remarks from the office, followed by a feast.
