“Nagas should not be reluctant to keep their dreams high, as long as we have God,” Associate Pastor (Mission), KABA, I Zulu Jamir today stated while addressing the Dimapur Mangmetong Senso Telongjem (DMST) golden jubilee celebration held under the theme “Higher vision through me (God)”, at IMC on October 26.

Speaking on the theme, the Reverend maintained that irrespective of how high our dreams are, if we only put God first, we will be able to achieve anything. He opined that Nagas have the tendency to dream high, but seldom works for it and leaves behind God. He viewed that there is a bridge between our dreams and goals, and that can only be filled through hard work, determination and keeping God ahead of us.

Jamir opined that we are now living in a scenario filled with explosion of information. He viewed that we are loaded with different types of information around us, which are least digested.

According to a survey conducted by him in Kohima, he revealed that explosion of information has caused lots of problems, owing to anxiety and depression, especially towards the youths. The survey displayed that out of 100 candidates, 36 have been affected by high level of anxiety and 16 by bi polar depression.

He also maintained that in the last six years, he noted that 13 people has committed suicide, due to depression and high anxiety, owing to explosion of information and not being able to digest it.

He also spoke about the rampant numbers of unions and societies formed in Nagaland. He mentioned that Nagaland was termed as the second highest state in the country, in terms of registered societies and unions. He however lamented that many of these unions were not beneficial for the people and also not working for the right purpose.

He opined that one reason for formation of so many unions may be because of our identity confusion and questioned if Nagas were still in a state of confusion.

He also spoke about how the present generation was termed as an age of rebellion, where youth of the present generation have been vending out their anger and frustration in many social media platforms.

However, he maintained that their voices should also be heard and urged the gathering to take into account the voices of the youths. Jamir was also sad to see Naga Students Federation’s (NSF) not partaking on the ongoing Naga Peace talks and stated that youths should also voice out their concerns.

Ending his speech, he urged the gathering nit to forget their roots and identities and never to forget that you are a believer, no matter what profession we follow.

Also delivering short speech, Imkong L Imchen, MLA, stated that 70 years of struggle for freedom cannot be solved over night. He also urged the gathering not to be misled by social media rumours and propagandas and maintained that majority of the things circulating in social media was not true and are only assumptions and propagandas.

Earlier, the programme was compeered by Merensola Imchen and Nungsangpong Imchen and invocation offered by president, Dimapur Mangmetongtsür Telongjem (DMT), Dr. Sentila Longchar.

Jubilee greetings were delivered by chairman, MVC, Yudang Imchen and vice president, ASTD, M Toshi, and welcome note delivered by president, DMST, A Mayang Imchen.
