Retains the King of the Ring Series title

Defending champion Venuzo Dawhuo (21) today retained the title of ‘King of the Ring Series 2018’ at the 7th edition of NagaWrestleMania here at Kohima Local Ground, Khuochiezie. Organised by Elite Entertainment Enterprise (3E) Nagaland, the wrestling event is part of the Combat Sports Festival 2018.
Son of Nezohü Dawhuo of Thenyizu village under Phek district, Dawhuo overpowered Nagaland Wrestling Association (CWA) reigning champion Menuosetuo Yiese in the finals to retain the championship title.
Standing 5’10 feet and weighing 92 kg, he pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 1.20 lakh. In semi finals, he defeated strong opponent Dzieselatuo Keretsü while in the quarter finals he overpowered Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü. He downed Besühveto Cumu in the pre-quarters and Cuhuyi Chuzho in the first round of King of the Ring series.
Runner-up Menuosetuo Yiese
Runner-up Menuosetuo Yiese, son of Lt. Khrielatuo Yiese of Kohima village entered finals after defeating Kezhavizo Thevo in the semi finals. 20 years Yiese defeated Nguzii Pao in the quarter finals. He defeated Seyiekhrietuo Yiese in the pre-quarters and Dima Keyho in the first round of King of the Ring series. Standing 6’6 and weighing 118 kg, Yiese received a cash prize of Rs. 60,000.
3rd place Dzieselatuo Keretsü
32 years Dzieselatuo Keretsü son of Rev. Khriezetuo Keretsü of Kohima village stood third place against his opponent Kezhavizo Thevo. Keretsü, standing 5’11 and weighing 119 kg entered semi finals after defeating Seketoukho Nipu in the quarter finals. He defeated Khrievotuo Sekhose in the pre-quarter and Neithongulie Kuotsu in first round of King of the Ring series. Keretsü pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 30,000.
Naga style wrestling has always been special occasion: Nakhro
Naga style wrestling matches have always been special occasion and source of entertainment for wrestling lovers, said MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro, the special guest of the inaugural session of the ‘7th edition of NagaWrestleMania’ here at Kohima Local Ground, Khuochiezie.
Expressing happiness that Naga youths have been participating at the national and international of combat sports, he aspired that they would bring more laurels to the state by achieving greater heights in the days to come.
Nakhro further encouraged the wrestlers to maintain discipline and dedication with regular practice to take up professional sports.
He also appreciated the 3E for creating a platform for the Naga youths and also providing opportunity for the combat sports lovers to witness the event.
MMA daily 5 PM on Oct 26 & 27
The Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event of the ongoing Combat Sports Festival 2018 will be held daily on October 26 & 27 from 5:00 PM.
This X1 Championship is sanctioned by MMA India and 32 fighters from all over the country are will take part in the event.
A good number of fighters from the North East, particularly Nagaland, representing different gyms in Kohima and Dimapur, will take part in the event.
