Dimapur, January 19 (MExN): The 17th Nagaland Agriculture & Horticulture Sub-ordinate Service Association (NA&HSSA) general conference was held on January 16, 2014 at the Angh House, Agri Expo Site, 4th Mile Dimapur. N. Tekatushi Ao, Director of Agriculture and G. lkuto Zhimomi, Dy. Director Agriculture and Advisor NAH&SSA graced the general conference as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively along with host of senior officers from the Department of Agriculture.
A note release to the media informed that the chief guest in his speech said farming is the main occupation of the people of the state and increasing the productivity of food grains depends on the field functionaries of the Department. New technology of farming method, he said should be disseminated for the uplift and increasing the living standard of the farming community. He also gave a patient hearing to all the grievances raised by the different Unit presidents in their brief administrative report and assured all possible help from the department, it added.
Meanwhile, the guest of honour acknowledged that the many awards received by the Department like Krishi Karman 2011 and increase in the food grain production in the state of Nagaland was because of the hard work and sincerity rendered by all the ranks and files of the Department. He also highlighted about the "Vision 2025", a target to make the state self sufficient in food grain requirement- "Food for All" by 2025, and encouraged the gathering to work more with co-operation and sincerity.
In the second session, new office bearers for the 2014-2017 tenure were declared by the Nomination Convener K. Toivi A.O II, DAO's Office Dimapur. The House also unanimously resolved to retain the present Advisor NA&HSSA, G. lkuto Zhimomi, President Z. Shekheto Chishi, and General Secretary T. Makenlemba Ao respectively for the tenure 2014-2017. The other office bearers elected were Viswezol, Dimapur as Vice President, Ranthungbemo, Wokha as Jt. Secretary and P. Chonchio, Dimapur as Finance Secretary-Cum-Treasurer. The District Unit presidents will be elected by each unit among themselves and submit the name, place of posting and contact number etc to the Association office bearers, the note added.
