M/S Bright Bakers in Kohima whose licence was suspended for food safety violations.

KOHIMA, MAY 30 (MExN): The Food Safety Administration of Kohima has suspended the food safety licence of M/S Bright Bakers following a serious food safety violation involving a foreign object embedded in a packaged bread product.
In a press release, the Designated Officer for Food Safety, Kezhangulie Yimchunger, confirmed that the bakery, located near Indira Gandhi Stadium in Meriema, was found to be in breach of basic food safety standards after a consumer complaint reported a nail embedded in a sealed loaf of bread.
“This is a serious breach of food safety standards and poses risk to consumer health and safety,” the statement read. The bakery’s FSSAI licence (No. 11921001000095) has been suspended “in the interest of public health.”
As part of the enforcement action, the bakery has been directed to undertake specific renovations and consider relocation within a 15-day period in order to comply with safety and hygiene regulations before reapplying for operations clearance.
It also issued a wider advisory to all bakeries operating in and around Kohima to strictly adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Hygienic Practices (GHP), warning that any deviation would invite similar action.
Consumers have been encouraged to report any food-related grievances directly to the Food Safety Section at the Chief Medical Officer’s Office, Kohima.
