Imphal, November 9 (MExN): Namthanlong Youth Club (NYC) were crowned champions of the 14th Jadonang Memorial Football Tournament 2025 after defeating Sawombung (SKYC) 6–3 in the final played at the Main Stadium, Khuman Lampak, Imphal East.
The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh along with a trophy, while the runner-up team was awarded Rs 1 lakh and a trophy in the tournament organised by the Zeliangrong Football Association (ZFA).
Among individual honours, Yumnam Monis Singh (11) of NYC was adjudged Best Player of the Tournament, carrying a prize of Rs 10,000 and a trophy, while his teammate Akash Kamei (23) was named Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament. SKYC’s Ashangbam Aphaoba Singh (05) finished as Top Scorer of the Tournament with eight goals.
Gaidimjang Young Association was conferred the Best Disciplined Team award and received Rs 20,000 and a trophy.
The closing ceremony-cum-final match was graced by former Chief Minister of Manipur and MLA Heingang AC, N Biren Singh, as Chief Guest, while MLAs Govindas Konthoujam (Bishnupur AC), Kh Joykisan Singh (Thangmeiband AC) and Sapam Kunjakeshore (Keba) Singh (Patsoi AC) attended as Guests of Honour. ZFA President G Aguilung presided over the function.
Dinganglung Gangmei IAS (Retd.), Chairman HAC and MLA Nungba AC, who is also the Chairman of the Organising Committee, attended as Chief Host.
The closing event featured cultural performances by Zeliangrong artistes, an exhibition match between the Zeliangrong Film Forum Manipur and Zeliangrong Officers, as well as a tug-of-war segment.
Earlier, Organising Committee Chairman Dipu Gangmei delivered the welcome address, followed by the Chief Guest’s speech. N Biren Singh formally declared the kick-off of the final, after which the prize distribution ceremony was held. The organising committee flag was then de-hoisted and handed over to the ZFA President.
