‘Nangrikangmung,’ a two-day event for the Aliba villagers residing at Mokokchung town organised by Aliba Union Mokokchung and Aliba Student’s Union Mokokchung commenced today with an awareness seminar on social media and financial literacy.
Held at Aliba Fellowship Ki at Kichutip Ward, Mokokchung, the resource person for financial literacy was Akumtong Jamir, Deputy Manager, HDFC Bank Ltd Mokokchung branch.
He shared on ways to manage and take care of personal financial matters and educated the gathering on how to manage family spendings basing on the 70:30 ratio.
You put 70% of your income towards living expenses and 30% towards debt repayment or savings, he said.
Jamir also highlighted on ways to invest and also various means through which one can save money.
Dr Limasenla Jamir, Assistant Professor at Fazl Ali College, spoke on social media basing on the theme ‘Navigating through social media: uses and awareness.’
During the same, she mentioned the uses and disadvantages of various social media platforms.
Focusing on the disadvantages, she pointed misinformation and spreading of fake news along addiction, effect on health and mental health, and impact on relationships as the major problem facing in the Naga society.
Dr jamir also suggested measures on how to use social media safely and also mentioned basic mobile phone etiquettes.
The facilitator for the awareness seminar was Limaonen Imchen. Sakurepba Kichu, President, Aliba Union Mokokchung delivered the vote of thanks.
Meanwhile, the Day-II of the Nagrikangmung will be held on March 25 at Ungma Tourist Centre and the programme will be exclusively for Aliba Student’s Union, Mokokchung.
