NASU appeals government to expedite ‘charter of demands’

Kohima, July 9 (MExN): The Northern Angami Students Union (NASU) has reminded the State Government on the ‘charter of demands’ submitted on June 21 seeking fee concessions for students. Referring to the representation, NASU office in a press release said that 16 days have passed since the submission, however, there has been no response from the Government.

The Union, therefore, requested the Government to expedite the ‘charter of demands’ at the earliest.

NASU reminded that its ‘charter of demands’ included waiving off school fees for unaided recognised private institutions. While acknowledging the service rendered by the staffs and management of every institution, be it aided or unaided establishments, the union urged the government to pass an order directing all unaided recognised private institutions to waive off certain percent of tuition fees for the unutilised facilities until formal or physical classes commences.

It demanded the institutions/school management not to debar students from attending exams, online classes and not to withhold the results of the examination of any students on account of non-payment of fees/arrears/outstanding fees. It appealed the institutions/school management to consider request made by the parent ward finding it difficult to remit annual fees due to economic hardships caused by the lockdown.

Meanwhile, reiterating its stand to leave no stones unturned in serving the students community, NASU reminded the Government that the union is “ready to move forward with any legal/appropriate course of action if our demands turn upon deaf ears.”
