Dimapur, November 26 (MExN): Along with the rest of the Country, Raj Bhavan Kohima observed the Constitution Day at its premise on November 26.
Governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi gave a brief account of the history of the Constitution making through broad participation of representation from all the regions of India and the significance of the Preamble of the Constitution.
PRO to Governor in a press release stated that the Governor, his wife Laxmi Ravi, family members and staff of Raj Bhavan read the Preamble during the celebration.
NVCO & KLC: Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) and Kohima Law College (KLC) observed Constitution Day in Kohima.
NVCO President and Assistant Professor, KLC Kezhokhoto Savi in his speech said the Constitution of India is the heart, soul and guiding lights of our democracy” and therefore, he challenged the citizens to take a pledge to fulfill our fundamental duties for the progress of the nation.
Noklak: Constitution Day was held at DC Conference Hall, Noklak on November 26. Speaking on the importance of Constitution, DC Noklak, Reny Wilfred, IAS, said that this day is very important and we are all bound to uphold the values of our Constitution.
He led the members in reading out the preamble of the Constitution. SDO (Civil) Noklak, C Phuniang said the vote of thanks. The programme was chaired by EAC Hq Yithachu Thur.
NU: Nagaland University, in online mode through Google Meet celebrated Constitution Day. NU Registrar, Dr Abemo read out the Preamble of the Constitution to the participants.
A lecture on the importance and relevance of the celebration of Constitution Day was presented by Prof AK Singh, Department of Political Science and Transparency Officer, NU. Prof Pardeshi Lal, the Vice-Chancellor, NU highlighted the importance of the Constitution Day.
The programme coordinated and chaired by Peter Ki, PRO, NU ended with vote of thanks by Zajamo Yanthan, System Administrator, NU.
SJU Nagaland: Department of Political Science, St Joseph University (SJU), Nagaland organized a virtual event on the theme ‘Indian Constitution and Rights’ to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.
Dr Chubatila revolved her address around the question, “are all citizens treated equal before the law?”, Keppen Sinyhunlo initiated constitutional related activity wherein six selected students of the department gave presentations on some fundamental features of the Indian Constitution, Lutsoi Lam made presentation on the preamble of the Indian Constitution and Tnali Aye spoke on the significance of Fundamental Rights.
Candi Yiuliu, acknowledging the pivotal role of BR Ambedkar in drafting the constitution, attempted to present the challenges before the Constituent Assembly in framing the world lengthiest constitution. Judith Khing highlighted the significance and importance of Directive Principles of State Policy. Imnajungla Longkumer provided a concise presentation on the Indian Constitution as a living document. Mhademo Murry explained the importance of fundamental duties and points out that “rights without duties will lead to anarchy”.
DMI St Joseph Global School: DMI St Joseph Global School virtually celebrated Constitution Day with various activities and seminars by its teachers on November 26.
Students of class I-III took part in drawing of Indian National Flag activity, while class IV-V attended the seminar held on the topic ‘Fundamental Duties of the Indian Constitution’ by Kughani I Sumi.
Zulotola Longchar conducted a seminar on the topic ‘Fundamental Rights of the Indian Constitution for class VI-VII, while Tolino V Zhimomi on ‘Constitutional Values and Fundamental Principles of the Indian Constitution’ for class VIII-X.
The school also made arrangement for reading the Preamble.
NSLSA: Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) celebrated the Constitution Day in several districts by conducting various activities. As a commemoration of the adoption of the Constitution of India and to reaffirm our commitment to uphold its ideology, the Preamble was also read out.
Zunheboto DLSA observed Constitution Day at the District Court premises along with the District Court Staff, Prosecution and PI staff by reading out the preamble of the Constitution followed by a short speech by Khesheli Chishi, Chairman ZDLSA who spoke on the importance of the Preamble of the Constitution and the relevance of observing Constitution Day.
Tuensang DLSA celebrated Constitution Day at St Joseph’s School. The welcome note was addressed by St Joseph's School headmaster. Recitation of preamble was led by Kumdilong Kessen, Secretary, Tuensang DSLA and Project Assistant TDSLA Soteth Anar spoke on the significance of day.
Tuensang DSLA also conducted essay competition at LLC School on the “Evolution of Indian Constitution.” Bahurul Islam was adjudged the winner followed by Jetei and Aviro Anar in the second and third respectively. The winners were awarded cash prize with certificate.
Wokha DLSA observed Constitution Day with the Court staff. Khrievono Seletsu, JMFC/Secretary WDLSA spoke on the significance of the Day. Duvelu Vero, District & Sessions Judge/Chairman led in recitation of the preamble with the staffs and WDLSA members to mark the day.
Phek DLSA celebrated Constitution day at District Court Complex. The programme was chaired by Thomeweu, Panel Lawyer, PDLSA, Cheliam Khiamniungan, Secretary PDLSA outlined the programme and activities organised throughout the country in celebrating of the day and read out the preamble. Vethothi, Panel Lawyer, Phek DLSA shared on the significance of the day and also addressed on Directive Principles of State Policy and constitution of India.
Sekhotso, Panel Lawyer, Phek DLSA deliberated on Fundamental Duties and Thejalenuo Jane Solo Assistant Public Prosecutor Phek also spoke during the event. It was attended by District Court Staff and PLVs PDLSA.
