National Deworming Day 1st round launched in Peren

Peren, February 22 (MExN): The District Health Society Peren (NHM) with the Department of Health & Family Welfare organised the launching programme for National Deworming Day (NDD) 1st round 2018 at Government Middle School, Jalukie Town Sector A on February 22 with T. Lankonsen Tsanglao, SDO(C) Jalukie town as the chief guest.  

The programme was attended by Risha Senior consultant, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, Dr. Bendangla, State Programme Officer (RCH), Dr. Khriesi Sachu, DD (HA) & Benjong, PM(CH)-NHM and representatives from Department of Education & Social Welfare.  

The programme was chaired by Dr. Denis Hangsing, Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Khrielasanuo DPO-UIP RCH Peren in her keynote address highlighted the previous year’s achievement of NDD in the district which was at 98% and lauded that this achievement was possible only due to the efforts & cooperation extended by the ASHA’s, Department of Education & Social welfare. She also said that though NDD is an initiative of the Health Department, it is the Social welfare department & Education department who are the actual implementing agencies. And as such urged all to actively participate in making the programme a success.  

T. Lankonsen Tsanglao SDO(C) Jalukie in his speech encouraged all working at the grass root level to rededicate themselves and join hands to work for uplifting the health status of the people. He said that the ONE tablet of albendazole given during NDD makes a child lead a healthy life and as such all should ensure that this programme is implemented to the fullest.  

The chief guest launched the programme by administering the Vit A & Albendazole Tab to school children.  

Risha, Senior Consultant Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GIO interacted with the students from the school and informed them about the importance of taking Albendazole & IFA. She also stressed on the hygiene and sanitation of oneself to protect against diseases.  

Dr. Densi Hangsing thanked all participants for their presence and making the programme a success. He also thanked the Head mistress and staff of GMS Jalukie Town Sector A for their cooperation.
