National Eye Donation Fortnight observed

Dimapur, September 20 (MExN): The District Health Society (DHS) Dimapur observed the 31st National Eye Donation Fortnight under National Program for Control of Blindness (NPCB) at SD Jain Higher Secondary School.  

Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dimapur, Dr. Vikato Kinimi spoke on eye donation. He encouraged the students and the faculty members to donate eyes stating it is the noblest way of helping blind people, informed a press release from District Nodal Officer, Dr. Imnapokim. The CMO also gave away certificate of appreciation to the relatives of four eye donors, all from the Jain community.  

The program was followed by a free eye screening of the students and teaching staff, which was led by Dr. Imnapokim, District Nodal Officer, NPCB Dimapur and staff from District Hospital Dimapur.   Out of the 609 students screened, 90 students were detected with refractive errors and other eye problems, the release added. Free medicine and free spectacles were also given to 50 students.
