Peren, July 3 (MExN): A pilot project under the flagship of the National Health Mission (NHM), Community Action for Health, Public Dialogue/Jan Samwad was held at Town Hall, Jalukie for Jalukie Block on July 2. The programme was held under the aegis of the Chief Medical Office Peren.
A press release from District Media Officer, CMO Office, Peren stated Dr Dennis Hangsing chaired the program who appreciated all the participants and the officials for attending the program. He stated that Community Action for Health is a Mechanism to improve accountability and enable better delivery of services, to build community awareness on health entitlements, initiates corrective action and planning with community engagement.
It also provides a platform for community feedback and dialogue with service providers for grievances redressal and leads to improved coverage and accessibility of health services. “It is in essence brings ‘public’ back into public health,” Dr Hangsing added.
He also gave an overview of the Jan Samwad explaining that it presents an opportunity for dialogue between the community and service providers, in cases of denial of services are shared along with the limitations from the providers’ perspective and a platform where community and service providers jointly resolve issues.
Dr Albert Pochury, MO CHC Jalukie was the moderator who presented the Cumulative Report Card, Facility Report Card of the health Units under Jalukie Block.
Discussion on the implementation of the outreach services under NHM, discussion on improving the facility-level service utilisation, discussion on improving the quality of care and support to cases was also held.
Presentation of Denial of Care/Adverse Outcomes cases were put across by participants especially the Village councils and ASHAs, where issues and queries were resolved.
Action plan for issues that needs to be resolved will be addressed in the next Jan Samwad, the release added.
Attending the program, Saurabh Raj Program Manager, Advisory Group for Community Action for Health, PFI New Delhi acknowledged the organisers. He also suggested for more participants in the next dialogue. He stated that in providing health services to the public, the community should not suffer because of lack of infrastructure or consumables. He said that the department needs to work backwards to address such issues.
