Newmai News Network Imphal | October 6 Tamenglong and Noney Districts Citizens Welfare Forum (TNDCWF) while alleging that the Autonomous District Council (ADC), Tamenglong has been “defunct” for several months, has announced today to impose a 12-hours blockade on October 11 along NH 37, Imphal-Jiri Road with effect from 6 am demanding that the Autonomous District Council (ADC) in Tamenglong be made functional. Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here, Forum president Rangam Thoitak said that the forum had submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister N Biren on September 24 regarding the “defunct state” of the Autonomous District Council, Tamenglong but so far nothing concrete has come forth. The Forum had served 10 days ultimatum to the State Government to redress the issue. However, no further intimation has come from the state government, Rangam Thoitak added. After the 12-hour blockade the Forum will also take up further course of action, the TNDCWF president said. He said that government offices will also be picketed in the district in the event of the non-response from the State Government after the October 11 sagitation. The 12-hour blockade with affect from 6 am restrict vehicular movements along NH-37, Imphal-Jiribam and also ban national projects in Noney and Tamenglong districts, according to Rangam. According to the Forum, immense inconveniences have been given to the public due to the issue of the Autonomous District Council, Tamenglong.
